The two who got new 11th Gen Intel devices have also been unable to get Google Chrome to run on their laptops (I know one is i7-1165G7, unsure on second). I then started asking around and it seems 3 other people I know recently upgraded their laptops. Unfortunately, I require Google Chrome for work. Google Chrome installed but simply will not load, just like on colleagues machine. This week I purchased a new Lenovo X1 Carbon (also with i7-1165G7) for myself which came pre-installed with 20H2.

Unfortunately every new security or cumulative update seems to immediately break Chrome and I have no idea how to resolve this without just never installing any Windows 10 updates. I didn't know what else to attempt so I also updated every driver possible from vendor with no change. I thought it could be related to graphics acceleration issue so I also setting the registry key (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\HardwareAccelerationModeEnabled) to with no success. We then tried clean installation of 20H2 again with local account only (to rule out something specific to being joined to our AD) but as soon as any update installed, Chrome would be broken again. We rolled back this update and hid/suppressed it using the MS tool, however 2 weeks later (after a Security Update installed) Chrome would no longer load.

So we tried a clean install using 20H2 and installed Chrome and it worked! However, the very next day (after Cumulative Updates installed that night) Chrome would no longer run again. When you run chrome.exe it just terminates in less than 1 second - no error, no window popup, nothing. We installed Google Chrome but it simply would not load. Only way it has run is with vanilla install of 20H2 with no updates - installing any windows update breaks it again. It crashes on startup and nothing seems to fix it. TL DR: I can't get Chrome to work on 2 different brand 11th Gen Intel (i7-1165G7) notebooks. Did a clean install by myself and worked it out. The 'clean' installed machines had actually been joined to domain and then removed but agent was left behind.

Removing/reinstalling drivers does not make it work again any more. UPDATE 2: Chrome broke again on next system reboot. Will report back on colleague's machine tomorrow. UPDATE: Installing GPU drivers from instead of vendor/windows update drivers has solved issue on my machine.
